Can I receive on-property service?

While the standard service is automated street side, you can request on-property garbage and yard clippings service for an additional $7.81 per month. With on-property service, drivers will travel up the driveway on foot or by truck and collect the garbage and yard clippings from carts adjacent to the driveway. The recycling carts must still be brought to the curb or street side.

What if automated service won’t work in my neighborhood because of hilly terrain or long, steep driveways?

The CCCSWA and Allied Waste Services recognize that some homes cannot be serviced by automated collection trucks because of hilly terrain, long driveways, steep or narrow streets, overhead wires, etc. These type of households are known as "hard-to-serve (HTS)." HTS households are serviced by a smaller truck.

In Danville, Lafayette, Orinda and unincorporated Central County
If your home is designated as HTS, you will pay a slightly higher rate. You will still receive the three garbage, recycling and yard clippings carts. These must be placed as close to the street or curb as possible for easy access. Allied Waste Services and Valley Waste Management may contact you to discuss a mutually agreeable collection location.

In Walnut Creek and Moraga
If your home is designated as HTS, you will pay the same rate as automated customers. You will still receive the three garbage, recycling and yard clippings carts. These must be placed as close to the street or curb as possible for easy access by the smaller truck.

How do I know if I’m in a hard-to-serve area?

Call Allied Waste Services at (925) 603-1144 and speak to a customer service representative.

If I am a hard-to-serve customer and I want the garbage driver to come onto my property, will I have to pay extra for this?

You may have to pay an additional $7.81 per month for this on-property service, depending on the cart accessibility from the driveway and distance from the street.
