Mini-Grant Program
2004 Recipients
The following received CCCSWA Mini-grants in 2004 to help fund innovative projects that will increase individual and community involvement in waste prevention efforts, decrease the amount of waste sent to landfills, and encourage the development, marketing and use of recycled products. Congratulations!
- Amigo Environmental
was awarded $7,000
to implement a pilot HDPE container collection from commercial generators for
recycling.

California Shakespeare
received $10,000
to install recycled plastic picnic tables and benches in the theater's picnic
grove and educate theater-goers about waste reduction and recycling.

East Bay Regional
Parks District
was
awarded $9,490 for purchasing ten self-contained recycling containers for
placement at Redwood Park, Lafayette Moraga Trail, Iron Horse Trail and Las
Trampas Park.

Green
Resource Center
received $7,810 to implement a Green Home Tour to showcase and increase
awareness of green building practices, products and technologies in
high-performance homes.

Heather Farms Gardens
was awarded $9,500 to expand and renovate the composting area of the Gardens.

Orinda Intermediate School received two
Biostack compost bins to include food waste from its daily food services and
$700 to increase awareness of the importance of the "4 R's" on campus and the
school community by making classroom presentations, creating video commercials
that will be shown on its daily news broadcast, design activities for homeroom
or lunch time competitions, and deliver classroom recycled materials to the
recycle bin.

Ruth Bancroft Garden
was awarded $5,500 to
create a composting operation at the Gardens for recycling of green waste on
site and provide education to its visitors.
