Mini-Grant Program
2005 Recipients
The following received CCCSWA Mini-grants in 2005 to help fund innovative projects that will increase individual and community involvement in waste prevention efforts, decrease the amount of waste sent to landfills, and encourage the development, marketing and use of recycled products. Congratulations!
- City of Walnut Creek, Heather Farm Preschool
was awarded $1,100
to purchase recycled content picnic tables, recycled plastic Earth Wagons, and
recycling containers.
- City of Walnut Creek, Parks and Recreation
received $10,000
to install recycled plastic picnic tables, benches and waste/recycling
receptacles in the Borges Ranch/Shell Ridge Open Space area.

East Bay Regional
Parks District
was
awarded $4,532 for purchasing ten self-contained beverage recycling containers for
placement throughout Briones Park area.

Green
Resource Center
received $9,750 to fund the creation of a convenient "purchasing portal" for
those that are interested in purchasing green building products and materials.

Pacific Rim Recycling
was awarded $9,250 to help develop PRR's new educational center at its Benicia
facility to include a professionally produced video on recycling for 4th through
8th grade students. PRR processes two-thirds of the CCCSWA's service area
recyclables so educating students should improve the recycling volume and
decrease contamination.

St. Vincent De Paul
received $10,000 to
help remodel the former Contra Costa County animal shelter site for use as a
free recovery center for white goods, computers and monitors, reusables, and
books.

"Bringing Back the Natives" Garden Tour
received $4,000 for printing their 2006 tour guide.

Athenian School received $10,000 to purchase
a commercial grade composter.
