WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – The new 2005 Contra Costa Reuse & Recycling Guide is ample proof that Central and East Contra Costa public agencies have good reason to celebrate on November 15th. The America Recycles 2004 celebration, to be held at the Walnut Creek Recycling Center, re-affirms Contra Costa County’s commitment to recycling. The new 32-page 2005 Contra Costa Reuse & Recycling Guide provides answers to “Where do I take…?” for almost any item that can be reused or recycled. Not only is the Guide bigger and better, it is being inserted into the 2004 December SBC Smart Yellow Pages, hitting the streets in mid-December to nearly half a million Central and East Contra Costa residents and businesses.
America Recycles 2004 is one of the most comprehensive recycling awareness campaigns in the nation. Formerly known as America Recycles Day, the campaign promotes recycling awareness and highlights the benefits of recycling and buying recycled content products to the environment. The campaign is issuing pledges that commit people to recycle and buy recycled. These will be available at the Walnut Creek event. Event organizers will submit the pledges to a national drawing to win a Ford Escape Hybrid vehicle. Campaign details can be found at www.americarecyclesday.org.
Staples, a national sponsor of America Recycles 2004, will act as host of this
local event. SBC Smart Yellow Pages East Bay Managers and local elected
officials will be on hand to unveil the new Reuse and Recycling Guide.
“We are hoping local residents and businesses will decrease waste and increase reuse and recycling by having the guide at their fingertips,” states Deidra Dingman, Contra Costa County’s Recycling Manager. “The guide lists a variety of local reuse and recycling resources including which materials are accepted for curbside recycling in each community throughout the County, local recycling centers, thrift stores, household hazardous waste facilities and more.”
The event takes place at 1:00 pm at the Walnut Creek Recycling Center, 480 Lawrence Way in Walnut Creek. Zun-Zun will provide live music and refreshments will be served.
