Solid Waste Service
Allied Waste Services (AWS) provides residents with a blue cart for solid waste. Carts range in size from a 20 gallon mini-cart to a large 96 gallon cart. For a list of current rates and container sizes, click on "Service Area and Corresponding Rates". Note that the rate charged is based on the size of the blue garbage cart and includes collection of the recycling and yard clippings carts. Customer Guide

925-603-1144 There is one main customer service number for both the garbage (AWS) and recycling (VWM) companies. That number is 603-1144. After calling the number, press 1 for AWS or press 2 to be connected to VWM.

Call AWS regarding new service start-up, billing, on-property services, special clean-ups, services for the disabled, vacation holds and your blue garbage cart or service.

Call VWM regarding your burgundy recycling cart or green yard clippings cart, motor oil container requests, scheduling recycling-only special clean-ups, or for information on the Walnut Creek Recycling Center. You may also call VWM directly at 935-8900.

 

Recycling Service

Recycling Cart

Valley Waste Management (VWM) provides residents with a 64-gallon burgundy cart for recycling, and  a 64-gallon green cart for yard clippings. Beginning March 1, 2005, recyclable paper and containers no longer have to be separated. This is commonly referred to as "commingled" or "single-stream" recycling making it easier than ever to recycle.  See recycling Do's and Don'ts for more information.  Yard Clippings Cart

A 96-gallon or an extra 64-gallon green waste cart are available for an additional monthly fee. These carts are generally collected curbside or street side.

 

Solid Waste Ordinance

In 2005, the CCCSWA amended its jurisdiction-wide  Ordinance 97-01 regulating solid waste, green waste, and recyclable material collection, processing , disposal and litter. Click on the link above to view Ordinance 97-01 in its entirety. To view the ordinance, click here.
