School
Recycling
Schools generate large amounts of
waste, that’s no secret, and most of this “waste” is
recyclable. To address this problem, CCCSWA initiated a
school waste reduction and recycling program to assist
the 46
eligible schools
within its
service area to reduce landfilled waste.
CCCSWA and its contractor,
TRG & Associates,
have strived to educate administrators, teachers,
custodians and students to make school recycling and
waste prevention a part of everyday life by providing
FREE recycling containers, ongoing
consultations and waste assessments, promotional
assemblies by
Earthcapades or
ZunZun entertainment troupes,
Junkology
reuse
workshops, composting workshops, and 4Rs presentations.
For a complete list of the
FREE
resources CCCSWA offers to schools, check these out:
Getting Started
The CCCSWA also offers
"how to" instructionsto
help schools start or
enhance
recycling efforts.
If you need any assistance with your
school’s recycling program, are interested in the
Wastebuster program, would like to schedule an assembly,
or workshop, or have general waste or recycling
questions, please call or email the appropriate contact for your
school district below.
A sample resolution
is available for school districts to reference, if they
want to make a resolution committing to the
implementation and maintenance of a district-wide
recycling program.
